Linden Lindy Swetland

	Linden Lindy Swetland, 72, of DuQuoin, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2001 at 9:05 p.m. at Rehab & Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.
	Mr. Swetland had been a Garment Business Owner.  he was a member of the DuQuoin Chamber of Commerce, DuQuoin American Legion, Horsemans Hall of Fame, Founder and President of Perry County Sheriffs Posse, Founder of DuQuoin Saddle Club, Founder and Chairman of DuQuoin Fourth of July Talent Show, Co-Chairman of DuQuoin Freedom Fest, an avid horseman and horse show judge.  He was a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.
	 He was born June 7, 1928 at Vergennes, the son of Harry and Ethel (DeArmond) Swetland.  He married Virginia Timmons on December 24, 1951 at Piggott, Ark. and she survives.
	 Surviving are his wife, Virginia Swetland; one son, David Swetland and friend Alice Galloway of Sesser; two daughters, Linda Mileur and husband Dan of Murphysboro and Theresa Swetland of Murphysboro; one brother, Bob Swetland and wife Frankie of DuQuoin; two sisters, Evelyn Toney and husband Bob of Woodville, Tex. and Norma Lumia of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren, Adam and Manie and many nieces and nephews.
	He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul.
	Graveside services were Thursday, February 22 at 1 p.m. at Murdale Garden of Memory in Murphysboro with Rev. Robert Chitwood officiating.  Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
	Friends called at Neal-McClure Funeral Home Wednesday, February 21 from 5 to 8 p.m.
	 Memorials may be made to the Perry County Sheriffs Posse.
